Crow Country Curlies - What We Do
We run cows, and use our horses in everyday
real life cowboying amid the local Native American lifestyle. We use natural
horsemanship handling & training methods. We usually have Curly Horse
weanlings or yearlings for sale: occasionally, stallion prospects, young mares,
or broodmares. Grullas, duns, buckskins, red duns, roan, etc. ranging from 14.1
hh - 15.2 hh ~ usually ranch horse type, occasionally sport type.

Our Breeding Philosophy
"Breed the best to the best, and hope for the
rest," is what a lot of old time livestock breeders used to say, and it best
describes our current philosophy as well. We breed only the best quality
individuals. We look for mares and stallions that show all the most desirable
Curly Horse traits, and still fit the size, muscling, movement, and correct
conformation that are demanded in today's horse industry. We breed horses with
superior minds, and excellent, kind temperament. We try to never overrate or
over-estimate our horses, and stay aware of any shortcomings or weakness they
may have. We try to create matings that balance and improve traits. Since the
Curly Horse was developed through natural selection, and not by mankind, it has
strong primitive survival traits. We prize this, and try not to "improve" those
traits with unnecessary superfluous or show horse traits. We are most interested
in preserving the strong using type of curly horse that was created to endure,
and we are not trying to change its best qualities.

Our Bloodlines
Our breeding herds consist of old bloodlines of North
American Curly Horses that developed centuries ago, out here on the old western
Frontier. We refer to these original old bloodlines as Western bloodline Curly
Horses. Most of our mares & stallions are Hammrich or Native American
bloodlines, (also known as Berndt or Bad Warrior bloodlines). We also have a few
outstanding females of Damele, BLM & unknown bloodlines.

We will tell you the truth.
What we have or don't have, what a horse for sale has to offer and what it
doesn't have, letting you know, is our obligation to you, to our horses, and
to the horse industry.
